Setting Permissions - Windows Vista/7
If you encounter a "Cannot create file......", "Cannot write to file...." errors or you cannot enter data into RezEasy
because the boxes are still not accessible after you have pressed the "Edit" the problem is related to Windows Vista/7 UAC
(User Account Control) and/or permissions on the folder containing RezEasy.
To correct this do the following:
- Open Windows Explorer by clicking the "Computer" icon on the desktop
- Locate the RezEasy installation folder. In version 6 and version 7 of RezEasy Front Desk this is ..\Hallisoft\RezEasy_6\
- Highlight this folder, click the right mouse button then select properties (Figure 1)
- Make sure the "Read Only" box is unchecked then press the "Apply" button. Apply to all files and sub-folders. (Figure 2)
- Click the "Security" tab then highlight the "Users" entry under "Group of Users Name" (note that the text after Users will be different
on your PC)
- Click the "Edit" button
- In the next dialogue highlight the "Users" entry under "Group of Users Name" (note that the text after Users will be different on your PC).
Now check "Full Control". Click the "OK" button twice. (Figure 3)
